Bank statements, 1929-1931.

The State Treasurer was obliged to pay interest on the bonded indebtedness of the state through banks or fiscal agents in the city of New York (Ala. Code, Chapter 25, Article 4 [1923]). This series contains monthly bank statements showing the status of different accounts maintained by the State Treasurer. The statements from the Irving Trust Company record payment of interest on bond coupons issued by the Alabama State Bridge Corporation. The entries are made on a daily basis and provide information on transaction dates, the amount paid, and beginning and ending balances. Information on statements prepared by the Chase National Bank regarding Alabama General Interest Account includes the total expenditures of coupons paid for the preceding month, and the beginning and ending balances.
